Intel vs AMD which one is better?

Don't even ask... it depends on so many things. The biggest factor is probably your budget.

I've always been an Intel guy myself but AMD do have their strong points, for example they tend to be cheaper.

The question is too broad/basic for any reasonable comparison. What are you trying to build?

I think that AMD is known for overheating so thats why i go for intel

That's a generalization that's been falsely propagated since the socket A days.

That hasn't been true in many, many years. I had both Socket 939 and Socket AM3 chips and they ran/run nice and cool.

Intel make better high end CPU's simply because AMD havent released anything new in quite a while in terms of main stream desktop CPU's. Having said that AMD CPU's still do well and are still a great choice for someone with a limited budget or looking to save money.

for video editing is intel better or AMD because I do alot of it
I can do casual editing fine on i5 2500K - having a GPU with CUDA (GTX 760 4GB) helps with the rendering. I'd say an FX-8320 would probably be fine as well but ideally you'd want an i7 and a graphics card with CUDA.

I have an FX-8350 and a sapphire radeon and the heat up so much when video editing do you have recommendations?

Unfortunately AMD as a company is very weak at the moment and could be heading into serious financial problems, because of Intel's underhanded tactics and a series of mistakes made by AMD themselves. Intel and AMD both missed the boat on mobile devices letting many smaller companies using the ARM architecture cpu's to basically control the mobile device market which was a huge mistake considering how much that market is growing and how many people are making the transition from PC's and laptop to phones and tablets. AMD had their high point in 2006 with the athlon 64 line of cpu's and managed to steal away a big percentage of the market from Intel, basically AMD woke up the sleeping giant and Intel focused on taking back lost ground. Intel are very good at making cpu's, but we also have AMD to thank for key improvements in cpu technology, but no matter what improvements AMD make, Intel has always had the money to catch up and improve upon it.

agreed however have you heard about AMD's R11 due to come out next year? they could grab more of the market than intel

I should think that both Intel and AMD should be making a great effort to make inroads into this market, but they should have been in the market a long time ago.
