Installing any program, progress bar stops.

Hello, I hoping this is an okay section to post this in. My friend owns a MSI g70 laptop and just recently when he tries to install a program the progress bar stops and never starts up again. I can provide more information if needed, just let me know. If anyone knows what could be causing the issue or how to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

Is this any specific program or all programs? What operating system? At what point does it stop?
 
Look in the event viewer for any signs of issues. Look in the application or system folder.

I found this, it may help. Sounds like a permission issue.

go to

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

right click Programs folder, go to properties, go to the security tab, click edit

click the "Everyone' group, check full control. make sure the boxes are all populated with checkmarks,hit apply, then ok, then ok
