Installing a second m.2 memory card

My PC has 2 m.2 slots, one is empty while the other has a 1TB Samsung card in it that holds everything. Now I want to add a second card so I bought a WD Black SN770 2TB card.
I plan to shut down, disconnect the power cable & battery and ground myself to discharge any static electricity. Then I install the 2nd card. Is there anything else I need to do like format the new card and other steps?
 
Yes you'll need to format it so windows Explorer can see it. Just touch a metal part of the case before touching anything as that will discharge you of any static electricity.

Thank you very much, I thought I needed to format it but wasnt positive
