do you run onboard audio or a pci sound card?

Speakers are plugged into the green jack and they are turned on. I just plugged a pair of hedphones into the speakers and I can hear sound, but it's VERY faint, so they are working. How do I turn it up?

open the volume controller and mute the microphone. [ start>programs>assessories>entertainment>Volume control.. fill the mute checkbox of the microphone.

What does the microphone have to do with the speakers....eny who try and raise the volume of the speakers in start>programs>assessories>entertainment>Volume control till you can hear it.

are there sound jumpers to make use a front card... if so, they may be wrong, or something is being used in the front,, disabling the rear on board

I got it to work. I have jacks for speakers and a microphone on the fron of my case and I never hooked them up because I wasn't sure how. I took the little blue jumpers off and left them off. After I put them back on, everything was fine.

Does anyone know the correct way to hook up the front jacks?

locate the cables coming from the front card. pick the one labeled audio, if not labeled, u need to consult a card which likely came with the case. then locate the sound jumpers on the board. consult your motherboard manual if you cant find them, likely under the sound port. connect the cables, then it should work
