hey guys, i need a makeshift case for about a month until i get a new one, any good ideas?

your best bet would probably be to buy a cheap one on newegg. even if you could make one yourself (which i couldn't imagine doing), the amount spent on parts to build would probably be more than what you could get a cheap case from newegg for..

just hook everything up and find a box big enough to cover everything so no pressure is on the video card, tape the monitor cable to the box then use the slack to hook it into the card. just an idea, never done it myself but have had a complete running pc just sittin on my desk while i tested a mobo and parts before they all went into the case, dont do it on carpet, static is very bad.

put mobo face up on floor, space it off with rubbers/erasers. psu and drives can go on floor. Cover it all with a large cardboard box, with square holes for the fan(s), which are taped to the box. And there is ur hobo case.

put it all in a big box, cardboard, NOT PLASTIC OR METAL, metal conducts and plastic holds charge, lol, cardboard is your freind here.

I would put a sheet of carsboard down, put your bits on it, then find a bigger box to go over the top of it all.

It would be hard to secure everything in a cardboard box, especially the heavier objects.

Can you really not afford to buy a case for $9.99 on newegg?

lol my friend ran an old system on a table without a case. my other friend carved a wooden one.
also, ive seen lego computer cases online. theres a million ideas :)

who wants to spend money on something you won't keep?
besides, that just makes the REAL case he WANTS further off lol
$9.99 is like two hours worth of work at minimum wage with taxes taken out! :P

Lol, i live in the US. Anyways, i have one of my computers without a case. All of the components are in a shelf. It surprisingly runs really cool. I have been running it for about two months now without a problem.
