I want to understand computers inside and out (If that's possible)

All I want to know is if I'm on the right track for what I want, and maybe a little of encouragement too.
I don't know if any of you are familiar with this or not, but I've been reading this book called code by charles petzold.

Anyways, if you haven't, it basically explains a good bit about the hardware and software involved in constituting

just about what a pc is.

I don't mean to force any of you to reinvent the wheel for me or anything, but I really need someone to just
tell me 'you're doin' fine.' I've read through a good 3 quarters of this book and I might as well finish the rest.

It went real in depth about what a RAM array is and how machine code adds and subtracts and just a lot of information to take in really.

That's were I left off anyway and am just about to pick up from that point since having put the book down a couple months ago.

What rekindled this was actually an idea I just had while being on Omegle of all places.

I want to write a program that is essentially me talking to myself. I know that probably sounds crazy, but, man,

those people just aren't any fun to talk to. I hope you guys don't think I'm a narcissist or something.

I just want to know if any of that machine code or any of that mumbo was familiar to any of you

and if I really need to know any of that stuff to get started on my dumb idea. Thanks in advance if you give a crap or whatever.

Why don't you do other kind of programming first?
Anyway, the thing you want to do is more about english syntax and semantic rather than programming. A program must parse a string and fake UNDERSTANDING it, and that's very very hard even in real life. If you'd share your thougths so far, we might be able to steer you, if we are able.
