I need driver help with Windows 98SE on a Dell Dimension 4600i

My Harddrive broke on the last day of the year, but i have tons of flash drives but windows xp does not work on them so I installed a copy of windows 98se which it worked but i have drivers issues with my video card, sound card, usb drivers. It is really annoying look at a 480x640 screen size with only 16 colors and no sound. I own a dell dimension 4600i with intel pentium 4 3.00ghrz but i don't know what graphics card or sound card the machine has. But when I had windows xp on it the graphics work fine with intel graphics controller and soundmax audio controller.

I and if ti matters my monitor is a dell e773c if ti has to do any thing.

I will really like your help.
 
98SE isn't supported on the dimension 4600. Buy a new hard drive and install XP.
 
OK if windows 98se doesn't is not compatible with a dell dimension 4600i, but do you any way to get windows xp on a external harddrive because i have a 500gb buffalo external harddrive but when i try to setup windows on it, there this message (windows setup can't gain access to the partitioned space you choose) can you help me get across that.
