I had a pair of the 2.1 Harmon Kardon that came with the dell 8300 I love them but wanted something better. so i went to best buy where i buy a lot and got the klipsch 2.1

I am still in the return period. I like the sound, but.....

I hear good things about the Logitech Z2300's and the Bose Companion 3

Bottom line

1) I listen to a lot of music and if I get a tuner card, maybe tv, but not a lot of movies. Was I right in getting 2.1's and not 5.1's. I read so because music was 'made for 2 speakers' Is that a lot of crap or true?

2) Of the 3 I mentioned above , which do you recommend. I suppose you would want to know my type of music because one review said that bose was the best but only with classical type music, not r/b and dance. Is that correct. Well, I listen to a lot of pop, r/b, and dance, with a little progressive. Hardly any classical.s

3) Is there another specific speaker that I am overlooking thanks

thanks.

I am looking for the answer to the 2.1 vs 5.1, but more importantly

which is better the logitech z2300's (getting rave reviews), the Klipsch 2.1 (unbelievable reputation, but said to have a muddy bass), or the Bose Companion 3 (said to not be good with my type of pop/r/b music)

i was more or less trying to answer these questions above :)

Let me break this down for you. If you want 5.1 get the klipsch promedia 5.1. Bose is a really overpriced overrated brand I have listened to the bose companion 3 and the klipsch side to side and the bose speakers CANNOT compare they are 250 when they should be around 80. Well what are ya gonna do that is typical bose overpricing for ya. I remember when I was a bose fanboy and I went out and bout the bose mediamates for 200 wow to think my klipsch 2.1's are 10X better for 50 dollars less my little sister has a pair of creatives that she bought for 50 that are better. Now on to logitech I dont know if its just me but to buy a speaker from a brand that specializes in mice and keyboards over a brand that specializes in making some of the best speakers in the world is just unheard of. Do the right thing, stick with klipsch or go with creative speakers.

actually logitechs have very nice sound...

i listened to the 60 dollar kipsch and logitechs and the klipsch had very bad mid range sound

An important thing to take note of when shopping for speakers is the effective frequency response. If I remember correctly, the Klipsch Promedia 4.1 setup I have goes waaaaay down to 28Hz. That is pretty much down there, and quite impressive for playing DVDs and gaming.
