I have a problem (tech geeks welcome)

I will explain as best as I can, I don't know what this could be. Please note I'm not that great with computers

The other day I'm watching a video and it starts to kind of stutter weirdly

I cant right click (at the time)

I click google and like infinite googles come up (makes me think this is a weird virus or something)

computer basically crashed.

start it up, doesn't make it to the user screen restarts
Can kind of get on if I press some f keys but it will mess up like before eventually

now the strange part

I take my computer over my dads plug it in there after getting all the dust out of it, walah, seems to work fine, no problems whatsoever EXCEPT i can't access steam, double click, nothing.

I come back home, same problems as before, plus, trying to highlight something on google, doesn't highlight cursor keeps blinking strangely. ALSO when i'm typing it will randomly add spaces between letters

I unplug my keyboard and put in a new keyboard and EVERYTHING seems to be working ok but strangely I can't access steam at all again (like at my dads before)

I don't know what to make of this, what is it some weird keyboard steam virus? anybody have any ideas?

honestly don't know what to do.

Have you tried doing a system restore back to a day when everything was working fine? If you think you are infected, do the following.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com. If you are still having issues running rkill then try downloading these renamed versions of the same program.

EXPLORER.EXE
IEXPLORE.EXE
USERINIT.EXE
WINLOGON.EXE

But DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Vista and Windows 7 users must right click on the hijackthis icon and click on run as. If the run as option doesn't appear then press and hold the shift key while right clicking on the icon to get it to appear.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

When the hijackthis log appears in a notepad file, click on the edit menu, click select all, then click on the edit menu again and click on copy. Come back to your reply and right click on your mouse and click on paste.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

Does it sound like a virus to you john?

thx for the reply btw, your asking me to do so much though and i'm getting confused, i'm going to try to get some sleep and re-explore your directions tomorrow

it's not giving me the notepad notes of hijackthis.

wait nvm...

a window popped up over the log thing and says:
For some reason your system denied write access to the hosts file. if any hijacked domains are in this file, hijackthis may not be able to fix them.
if that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. to do this, click start, run and type: notepad C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

on a side note, I plugged in a new keyboard and EVERYTHING seems to be working ok now, i even got on steam, for some reason it wasn't popping up before, but i noticed it on the bottom right popup panel thing and clicked it from there and it seems ok now. the only thing now is my speakers aren't working, I did alot of unplugging and re-plugging so i'm not sure if that affected them.

update, I seemed to be really tired last night apparently because I plugged them in the wrong slot... I re-plugged them in the right one and they are currently working, as of now I'm having no problems with the pc, but still very suspicious of the happenings in the last few days.

I do not see any evidence of an antivirus program installed on your system. You need to have one as a precaution. I would also get rid of Spybot.

Please do the following.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your Desktop.

•Please close all open programs and internet browsers.
•Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
•Click on Scan.
•After the scan you will need to click on clean for it to delete the adware.
•Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
•Please post the content of that logfile in your reply.
•You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[Sn].txt as well - n is the order number.

the system seems to be running exactly how I want it to be. haven't had a problem in the last 48 hours or so.

I did not install one yet, is there one you can recommend?
