First of all, look in device manager to make sure you don't have any entries that have yellow question marks on them or any unknown devices. Check the audio output to make sure you have it set right.

Also noticed you are running a very outdated version of AVG antivirus. You need to uninstall it and install either Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

i do have a ? on multimedia audio controller...it cant finish the windows update thing even though i have the cd in the drive!!

snd im working on that...i do have mcaffee (sp) but i cant seem to get avg uninstalled...lets just work on the sound issue right now...ill try it again!!

That question mark would be your sound driver and thats why your not getting sound. Were you uninstalling programs recently? If so, you may have uninstalled your sound drivers.

What I need to know now is what brand of computer you have if you bought it from a store, would need brand and model number or if its a custom built then need model of motherboard used.

Or you could go back into device manager and right click on the multimedia audio device and click on properties, then click on the details tab and give me the 4 digit vendor and device id numbers. They look like this, all I need are the numbers circled in red after ven and dev.
