I am going to buy a tablet or laptop for job search purposes only

I recently lost my job so now I am need to get out of my house and be able to search for jobs. The guy at the store (office depot and best buy) told me that the laptop would be faster and easier to type on than an IPAD or other tablet. is this true. I plan to be at the library or other quieter place for maybe 3 to 4 hours a day and I can do the rest at home. I just need a decent machine for few hours to do job search online. It may take me several months or longer to find a job so any recommendations are appreciated in terms of laptop or ipad.

I suggest a laptop for typing purposes, typing on tablets aren't as fast as laptops, I am not sure about Asus transformer pads, but I would suggest a lappy.

If you really want a tablet fro job hunting, get one with either BlueTooth or a USB connector that will allow you to connect a keyboard. Tablets are great for browsing the web and such but you will be hampered at doing anything much more than sending resumes since they are awkward to type on decently. The external keyboard will be something you'll need to haul around with you but you'll only need to plug it in if you want to write a cover letter or something like that.

Good luck on the job hunt.

If you can afford a laptop i'd suggest you'd take a laptop. Hopefully, the job hunt won't take really that long, so, a laptop will be way more useful. I personally dislike tablets since my brother got one. They are not as portable as a phone, and they are way slower than a pc, so you will be using it most of the time at home, and it will be slower than a pc.

I would say go tablet. I just bought this Asus TF300 with a keyboard dock for $590 including tax at best buy and honestly it has completely replaced my laptop. With the dock I have full usb and SD card support. 15 hours battery life and with the quad core cpu it feels just as peppy if not more so as my i3 cpu viao that I no longer even use.
