HP to Lay Off 27,000 Workers

Yeah, I do agree with the whole quality thing, because my dad got a cheaper HP ($449.99 USD) and it had a lot for the price, but the case sucked and hell for what he does it runs slow as frig. It's a quad core and 4 GBs of ram, and wireless "N" and it is still slow as frig on the internet. My P4 almost runs faster. My Core 2 DUO runs way faster.

I feel for all the families of the affected.. That really stinks for them. It just doesn't make sense to get rid of workers of a company just because a different market is thriving. Just keep them on the workforce and get in on the cellphones/tablets/etc instead.

They tried that. Remember WebOS? That failed. Though I agree they could probably come up with something else.

One thing they should do is ditch all the Indians and put more American's to work for their support lines. Regular consumers have to deal with them, but business customers get to talk to someone here in the US. Besides, we have such high unemployment in the country.

Pretty soon the job market is gonna be so saturated, there won't be any jobs available. This country is gonna be hurting really bad in the next few years. With all these layoff's there aren't anywhere for these workers to go. If HP would make better quality machines, they would realize they need more workers.

I totally agree with that, there are too many Indian people working in U.S, if they work for individual countries then both economies will be benefited.

They aren't here in the US though, they're overseas.

Speaking of which, you ever see that movie Outsourced (2007)? It's pretty good :good:

Yeah I saw that movie, it was pretty decent. Well yeah that is what I'm talking about, Indian people should work for Indian companies only. Doesn't really matter whether company is an outsourcing one or product based. But product based companies like Apple, Microsoft are at the apex of the pyramid.

It's American companies way to get labor for cheap, unfortunately, cause they don't wanna pay their own people a decent salary.

I agree with that voyagerfan. Seen it many times and i worked in a steelmill. 6 or 7 yrs ago and retiring from a steel mill GM wanted to import steel because cheap labor and no environmental requirements. Then all auto industry followed suite. Bankrupt a lot of steel mills. Luckily i was working still and did not take the hit that other retired people did.

For the record though. I always had a problem with like the auto industry and unions bragging about people making money. Sweeping a floor...........PLEASE.........
those days are gone. Should be. If you dont know nothing then you don't get nothing.
Always said skilled trade, management and people in production making critical decisions.
Example. A 350 ton crane carrying hot metal 3000 deg's.

What is the average salary given to an American in US as a fresher in an average company?
In India it is ~500$ per month only for the first year in a company.

right now i would say for the average worker $15.00.
I worked all my life. 12 or 16 hrs a day as a electrician, project management and made $90,000 to $100,000 a year for 37 yrs. Some can and will and have skills and 16 hrs a day. 365 days a year. Hump, hump and hump. Too many dont want to do it. Finished high school and thats it. Not qualified for any skills. Won't go no where in life and be poor all there life. They are there. Give me a job. Likely the most secure job market here is medical field. My kids are.
