HP Scanjet 3970... won't scan.

Like the subject says, I have a HP Scanjet 3970, but when I click on the Photo and Imaging Director, the "Scan" option doesn't come up. The options "View and Print" and "Help" only come up. The scan button on the scanner itself doesn't do anything either...

Umm... I've double-checked all the cables and everything, so they're all hooked up. I really can't figure out what to do. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
 
Best thing to do is to uninstall your scanner and all the software that went with it and then re-install everything. :D

See if that helps first, and if it doesn't you might need to check some settings within the scanner's software etc.
