This laptop was a donor, having it's processor and RAM swapped out into a nicer looking laptop (and didn't take much care piecing this one back together :o) However, as rough as it might look, it does work!

Main problems:
* Case is scuffed or scratched on every conceivable place
* Battery holds almost no charge
* Missing the F1 key (but the rubber is still there so it functions)
* Mouse buttons require a great deal of pressure, but still work

The Good:
* Everything still functions (webcam, speakers, DVD-RW, HD, WIFI LCD) :P

Is anyone interested in this beast? I've actually been using it off and on for the past few weeks and it's still a decent machine. I like having one I can kind of throw around, but I also want a new laptop with decent battery life... Batteries are pretty easy to come across, as this uses the same battery as the Compaq F700 and most larger HP laptops from this era.

Make me an offer and I'll think about it :P

(I have not decided how much RAM I'll include. Probably either 2x512MB or 2x1GB depending on the price. I want to keep the 2GB stick)
(Windows 7 was a temporary install; it would either come formatted or with XP installed as it still has the key on the bottom)

so what CPU does it have? Also, was this one of those HP laptops that have the infamous faulty nvidia chips?

Notice the little GIF at the bottom :P That was a screen shot taken just before posting this thread. It's an Athlon (well, that's what the Compaq's sticker said) TK-55 @ 1.8GHz

didn't see it. damned 64kbps :P how much were you thinking for it? my dad might actually want this, to replace his bulky and outdated sony vaio.

Hmm... I don't know... I saw some going on Ebay for parts for about $100, so what about that plus shipping? I was going to try and calculate shipping for you, but I don't know where Awesomeland is :P

haha, that was a joke i did with awildgoose. i should change it back to Australia now :D

Shipping will probably be a killer, as always. I'll ask my dad about it next time i see him. if you get anyone else that wants to buy it before i can go ahead :good:

Hmm... I need to find a scale to weigh this thing, but more so, I need to find the power supply :P There's a converter it came with and I can't find the darn thing. The PSU is an HP one, but the plug is like that of my Dell... I'd just been using the other one I had... :o I'm sure the darn thing is around here somewhere

well let me know i may be interested in having one as a spare around the house, as long as it works good idc what it looks like

Yeah, it works just fine. I was actually using it earlier today. No problems to mention. Ugh, just wish I could remember what I did with that stupid converter.

I can look into that flat-rate box. It was looking to be around $15-20 on UPS.

--edit--

I found a plug that'll work so I'm converting the old power supply.

Let me confirm things with linkin93 first, otherwise tomorrow I can see about getting a box and having it mailed out as soon as I get payment.
(EDIT - Confirmed, it's all yours JlCollins if you want. Just PM or IM me something and we can discuss payment and such)

Oh, and here's my handy work on the power cable. It's powering/charging the laptop now just fine :)
