Though i would not buy an oem I have always had HP printers. Have 3 and one is a 722 for maybe 15 yrs or longer. Never had a problem with the printers. Never........

Have a 722, 932C and Designer Jet 110Plus.

You've been one of the lucky ones Tremmor. I for one am glad to see this happen.

I don't remember if they were all HP's. I think so. But all lasted for year. If i was to worry it would be th3 110 plus. About a thousand dollars if not more. I think its 40" long. Its massive and can not send back easily. Works though. My wife puts pictures or takes photo's and puts on sweat shirts, 5 shirts or what ever. People email photo's and order's a tshirt with photo. Does the same with embroidery. Spent about $10,000 on that machine. Embroids pictures on sweat shirts or on hats for a business. Think she has burn out right now. tired.

Most people on this site have custom builds but at the end of the day this is bad news for the consumer. I am not sure why anyone would be happy about this, the less competition a market has the higher prices go.
I owned 2 HP pc's and a couple of printers and never had any complaints with the products, not any more than other manufactures at least.

I always had good luck with their 5000 series laser printers. I hate their inkjets, but then again I hate all inkjets :P

Agreed. I've had customers that "can't figure out how to put in the ink cartridges" and have jammed/forced them in and broken them. But yeah, all inkjets are garbage. I'm never going to buy another inkjet. Lasers are pricy but well worth it.

As far as the HP PC brand, they're just garbage. So many problems over the last few model lines.

And I just realized that means Compaq will be going away too.

Funny thing Cromewell. Ive never had a laser but all text. Haven't printed a picture in years. I understand its quality but pictures and photos i just upload to a local store, if that's what we might be talking about. At least for what i use it for. Documents, and thats about it. Think most have inkjets and not laser. maybe i will look closer next time. Had laser at work. I don't see no diff. Speed is not a factor for me. Im asking what do you see i don't know that is diff?.
I print everyday and documenst and scan and my equipment works fine.
thanks

what do you mean by services, cuz i know their customer service was sh1t so if they plan to do something like that they're going bankrupt.

They want to get out of physical hardware in favor of "services" and software. IBM did it, they figure that they can, too.

That's not really true. They pulled the webOS because they even admit that they rushed it and it didn't get the reception they expected of it. I'm no big fan of HP, but based off of various sources (google top computer companies) They have a huge fan base. They do something right. Just because people on the forums doesn't like them doesn't mean they are a bad company. Do the search, HP is always mentioned as one of the top in the industry, whether it be by sales or by customer rating.

A lot of people that buy HP don't know anything about computers.

Just another 2 cents from me.

Yeah and a lot of those people don't have any problems with them. Like I said, I'm not a fan of HP. A lot of their stuff is really cheap, but here and there they have good products. I have an HP laserjet and it does an amazing job.

I am not surprised, if you look Hp sells have been declining. It is good to see them stop making products, they build such horrible computers due to low end parts and a tone of bloat ware which has given windows such a bad name.

I'm no fan of HP, but I like their desktops. The fact they were pulling out of pc business wasn't that big of an issue for me but printers ? I mean come on seriously, printers ? HP s the best manufacturer and has some of the most bad-ass printers out there, wtf am I going to use in the next 5 years or so ?
