Been out of the market for awhile. Had/still have HP AMD Athlon 1GHz 40GB 256MB/Ram 7 years old. Kids took it over & it's about shot.
I decided to go laptop. Old pc is really shot so I was very impatient and made a move quick with very little research.
This is what i got...

HP pavilion Entertainment notebook
Intel centrino duo mobile
Intel Core Duo Processoor T2250 (1.73GHz
2MB L2 cashe, 533 MHz FSB)
1024MB of 667MHz DDR2
100Gb 5400RPM dual hard drives
XP Media Edition
Lightscribe Super Multi 8x DVD+/-R/RW w/double layer support
17" WXGA+ HD widescreen LCD
NVIDIA GE Force Go 7400 graphics card
6-in-1 media card reader

how'd I do?
1-10

I don't know a lot, but it seems to be a good laptop. Still, without knowing the price it's difficult to say how you did. The price really determines whether or not you paid to much or too little. Without the price I would have to judge it based on the best $5000 dollar laptops.

I think it's a bit pricy for what you got. I'm buying a decent laptop tonight, it's about the same, but for $400 cheaper. It has less features, but I doubt you'll use many of the features on your current laptop.

HP Pavilion dv8000z customizable Notebook PC
* – FREE Upgrade to Genuine Windows XP Media Center
* – Moble AMD Sempron(TM) 3300+ (2.0GHz/128KB)
* – 17.0" WXGA+ BrightView Widescreen (1440x900)
* – 128MB ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory(TM)
* – 512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
* – 80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
* – FREE Upgrade: 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
* – 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM)
* – No TV Tuner w/remote control
* – 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
* – Microsoft(R) Works/Money
* – HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
it's actually $1079, but there are instant rebates ($250) and a mail-in ($50) + tax & free shipping comes to $850.

100 gig hdd you have 80gig
he has 1gig ram you have 512
Not saying his pc is better just there are a few key things there.
Both pc's sound good for the price u paid.

His cpu is quite a bit better though, I mean you still do have a sempy in your laptop. The core duo cpu's aren't outstanding but I have the 2.0GHz one in my macbook, its one of the better mobile cpu's available, other then teh meroms when they come out.
