How to view XML as text.

I recently have been backing up some text messages from my HTC EVO and sending them to my computer. How can I view XML files on my computer with out all the code look. Its extremely hard to follow the text with all the extra random stuff. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Is there a way to get rid of all the code surrounding the texts so its cleaner to read once i open it.

Example this is how a simple text kinda looks

<sms protocol="0" address="Phone number" date="13139924" type="2" subject="null" body="Hey whats up " toa="0" sc_toa="0" service_center="null" read="1" status="-1" locked="0" readable_date="Aug 22, 2011 2:20:37 AM" contact_name="Steph Work"/>

Only Hey whats up, is the actual text.
