hey I have a lenovo x200 laptop with windows xp 32bit and whenever it starts up it takes forever (probably loading a lot of programs) I know there is a way that you can set it up so that it only loads certain programs at start up. How do i set that up, and what basic programs need to be started so that the computer can run?

goto start / program files / startup / you cand delete anything in there if ya don't need it.

goto start / run / msconfig
goto the startup tab on top. you uncheck as needed. ya might have to extend it out to read it. keep your virus running. ya don't need adobe to start and many others to start every time ya turn on the computer. if ya make a mistake you can always change it back.

run ccleaner which is freeware for housekeeping.

defrag your computer then restart.

CCleaner also has a start-up manager which is really handy for fixing slow start-ups. A lot of programs try to get onto that list when they install... very annoying...

try to clean up some programs from start up with typing msconfig in run dialog box and deselect those..then apply and also which antivirus do you use...??
