How to Setup a Printer Directly to a Router

I need to get a printer, but I work mostly from a laptop on any space that I can get. I have a modem and wireless router located of in a remote area, and I would like to setup a printer as well. Here is my question...how do I connect a printer directly to my existing Lynksis router? I would like to connect it directly to one of the open 4 cat5 cables on the back of the router. What do I need to do this? Do I need to get a printer with a network output, or do I need to get a print server?

My goal is to have the printer off to the side while I work from any other space. Does this sound possible?

to have a printer directley connected to a router, you need a networking printer, with a ethernet port. pretty much you just plug it in, get the ip or mac address by pressing a button on the printer, installing the driver on the computer and selecting that the computer is networked.

yea, most printers are usb anyways, and your making it too complacated, just get a network ready printer, and a cat5 or 6 cable and your set.

thats for older printers without networking capability.

That sounds cool. I figured even if they were more expensive, I'll save money by not having to buy a print server. That will work. Thanks.
