Well that makes no sense!! You don't use MSN or w/e to send files to networked PC's, you use file sharing. Using network file sharing allows you to send files at rates of 11mbps - 100mbps or up, depending on your router's speed.

This link will explain how.

To set PC's in the same workgroup, right click on My Computer. Go to Properties and click the Computer Name Tab...then click the button that says CHANGE near the bottom. Change the workgroup to the same thing on both PC's.

Do not EVER send files to networked PC's using file transfer on msn or anything like that, that's for computers that are not networked.

Hmmm one more, using file transfer settings i need a bigger flash drive, my flash drive only up to 128mb hehe T_T, how do you make both computer to the same network? because i had them before sending to each other really fast =]

thanks in advanced =]

I'm not sure you are understanding. (And I don't know how flash drives have anything to do with this post either...) If both computers are connected to a router with the same workgroup name, they are in the same network.

So maybe i misunderstood you. Is the computer you are sending things to in your house, or is it your friend that you are sending stuff to. If it is your friend, networks have nothing to do with this...tell me if its your friend that you want to send things to...

But, if i understood you right, you are trying to send things to another computer in your house. For this to work, you need both computers connected through a router, or directly with a crossover cable.
I'll assume you have a router. And, Ill also assume you are using windows XP, once again, TELL ME IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS 98 OR ANOTHER OPERATING SYSTEM OTHER THAN XP. Do what I mentioned before and set up file sharing. Then, as i also said, right click on My Computer and go to the computer name tab. Go to change, and change the work group name to the same thing on both computers.

After this, go to MY NETWORK PLACES on your XP machines, then go to "Workgroup Computers" to the left. Or, you can type //yourname (Yourname being whatever WORKGROUP name that you used) and it will take you to a list of all computers connected.

Something about your question seems odd though, it seems like we aren't on the same page here....

If none of this answered your question then reword it and ill be happy to help.

the flash drive is used for making a wizard disk hehe and other wise you've provided enough information hehe thanks and we are in the same router so i guess i just need to change the workgroup name on the my computer setting eh?

thanks dude

oooooooooh I understand. K cool...but just so you know you don't need to do it that way, you can just do the same thing you did on the first computer on the other.

oh yeah now i can't set it up right! T_T speed still slow ( theyre both under same network ) one comp has wireless access and the other uses lan hehe jus so let you kno =]

How do you even know the speed. I noticed before you said something like 6 kbps...how would you know? If you did everything right it would not possibly be goin that slow.

Beyond what ive said i duno what to tell u

i send it through AIM hehe from upstairs comp to downstairs it says 6kbps hehe but its okay i got it through folder sharing

Well why were you using AIM!!!!!?!?!?!

Well that makes no sense!! You don't use MSN or w/e to send files to networked PC's, you use file sharing. Using network file sharing allows you to send files at rates of 11mbps - 100mbps or up, depending on your router's speed.

That was the FIRST post i made in responce. Why didn't you listen. Networked computers don't use AIM to send! Using AIM sends the file to the internet, where your other computer downloads it.
File sharing sends it DIRECTLY to your other computer through the router, faster than your internet can even go.

If you didn't read what i said before, READ IT NOW DO NOT USE AIM. Use folder sharing as i told you to before, and as you said you have figured out and started to do.

If you're going to ask questions, please look at the answers.
