How to make a MP3 playlist in Media Player 12

I first posted this in General Software and got no help. I am hoping for better results in this section. This is my first post on this forum and my first time on any computer forum.

I have Window 7 with Media Player 12. When I make a playlist Media Player 12will only create it in the WPL format. Media Player 11 would allow me to create playlists in the MP3 format. Does anyone know how to change Media Player 12 to create the playlist in MP3 format? All my music is in the MP3 format and it is what I know. I am not very computer bright and I need simple step by step instructions. Thanks in advance for any help.

I saw your other thread and never replied because I couldn't quite understand what you were talking about. I'm not sure what the issue is here. The playlist itself is listed as a WPL file but all the music in it are still MP3's or whatever file format you would like to use.

Can you better explain exactly what the issue you are having is?

I want the playlist in MP3. As best I can tell from the limited and frustrating use of the WPL format, when it is created as a WPL list it is attached to the Windows Media Player and the music library associated with the computer. The list will play, but it will not show me the songs on the list. If I copy the list file to a thumb drive, other devices, such as my car mp3 player will not find it.

When using Media 11, I could create the playlist as MP3 files, then I could copy the list and move it to other media and play it on other devices. Basically I could use the Media Player to find various songs, put them in the order I wanted, and transfer them from the computer.

I am not sure how better to explain this.

Ok. Let me see what I can do here. I originally was using media player 9 in XP and had 4 playlists in there. I don't use XP anymore, just windows 7 now. The other day I finally decided to open wmp12 and import all my music. I told it what folders to search in and it imported everything, including my old playlists. So again, I really don't understand what the issue is. You may just have to import data using wmp12. And then possibly right click on the playlist and click on send to burn list or sync list to where you can sync it with flashdrive which I just did and worked fine or burn it to cd so you can play in car.

Thanks for the attempt to help, but we are still not on the same page. I guess my computer skills are not up to the task of explaining the problem.
