hello all, this is my first post and i'd like to say hi and ask how to cool my comp down. i vj in local clubs and play 6 hours sets and in that time of continous play, it over heats and crashes. i have one fan and have one added a hd and a graphics card to my comp so no cooling, what soeva, can anyone please help me in how i can cool my comp i dont have much of a budget, some advice would be wicked!

thanks in advance!

Cheers!!!

Airflow is your friend. You'll more than likely want more fans.

A good rule of thumb is this. Fans in the front of the case are intake, fans in the rear are exhaust. Fans in the top are exhaust, and fans in the side door are intake.

You may want to take the side panel off of the case to stop overheating as a last resort, but being at a club with an open case is bad news. spilt drinks, flying debri, lots of dust etc.

Your first step would be to tidy up all the cables inside the computer case to improve airflow.
If this does not improve you temperature (BTW, please post your CPU, GPU and Mobo temps) then you should invest in some better or more case fans. These can vary for £3 to £15, it all depends what you want.

The next step would be new HSFs for the CPU and GPU, or get a better fan for your stock coolers.

If you can provide details about your computer, ie Processor, Graphics Card, Case etc then I can give you exact items to cool the computer better.

EDIT: 4W4K3, u beat me to it lol :P

Just one tidbit to add.
You may want to clean the fan cages AND fan blades quite often. Dirty fan blades restrict fan performance greatly. Clean with Q-Tips and 99% alcohol.

cool, i'll give em a clean. i dont actually no my temps and im not to sure how to find em out, am new to this game, any points please?

Thanks for ya patience!!!

i dont wanna keep anyone waiting its going to take 1 hour 7 mins and 14 secs to download, i need a new isp. haha! sorry!

Heh, i know how you feel, going to clubs, with the room being 30C anways really makes your temps soar. All i can recommend is more fans, and maybe liqued cooling if you want to go that far. I would just get all the case fans that you can in your comp.

hey, sorry all its taking so long to get back i have 2 comps and one has the internet and the other one is me work one and i had to switch comps and didnt realise and speedfan took ages so heres me reults i vj-ed for 2 hours on it and the temp were 51c on first hd and 45c on second and cpu was arounf 50 mark, need any more info? sorry again and thanks in advance!!!

Cheers!!!

i have a dell dimension 5150 is it possible to put fans in it? i dont mind cutting it up like, yeah its get so hot on the clubs, crazy!

Well, i would for sure get and exhaust fan for your video card. I would also mount a fan on the side panel. Also get a HDD cooler while you are at it.

rite sorry i missed that i have a ati radeon 9200 and i can find out about the sound card where? sorry am serioulsy new. but thanks for ya patience!

Cheers!!!
