How to get sound from computer to tv:(

I hooked up my tv(Samsung 46in 6300) thru DVI (computer) to HDMI (tv) which works awesome and i recently bought the cord to get sound red/white on one end and headphone jack(3.5mm?) in the other end but it doesn't work. Please help this is really getting frustrating :( thanks in advance!

It doesn't work like that. You can't just plug the audio cables into anything that matches the color. The audio has to be on the same channel as the video. My TV has a DVI port + 2 sets of audio ports on the same channel. You need to either buy something like an S-video to component cables(if you GPU has an S-Video port), or get a GPU with a dedicated HDMI port. Although you could just get some separate speakers.
