how to disconnect monitor speakers

I have this monitor

and i have just bought some wireless headphones. Unfortunetly the plug to get the sound from the monitor is hard to get to because it is close to my desk so there is not much room for me to be able to tilt the monitor.
Is there any way to disconnect my speakers on the monitor so i can then plug my headphones in on my mobo? This is so i don't have music blaring out as well as it coming through my headphones.

When you plug in headphones, if everything is connected correctly, the sound should stop from the speakers.

Just unplug them. I realize that it might be difficult, but is it really that hard?
