How safe is the U3 Launchpad ?

Hi all,
I have a few of these USB Cruzer Sandisk, Is how safe is the U3 launchpad password protection? If I password protect the Usb stick, and it fall to the wrong hands (not neccessary criminal, just the people shouldn't have it), should I worry the safty of the information in the stick? could anyone be able to read them? I was told if I forget the password my information will be gone forever. Is there a backdoor password from the manufacture?

Afaik, it is secure. I used it. And if you forget it, the only thing you can do is reformat it.

I am try to find a free software that do the same security thing for 4 of my diskgo 16gb usb stick, they come with a trial version security software, I can't be bother with them. If I can't find any free software. I will have to buy Cruzer Sandisk in the future, no other brand.
Anyone know is there a free usb security software to protect the stick like U3 launchpad? the U3 only work with Cruzer sandisk.

linkin that is not what I want. I want a free software work like U3 that support my DiskGO Usb stick made by Edge. U3 ONLY work with cruzer sticks.
 
I linked the remover because the U3 on my drive got infected from a computer and then infected every single damn computer i plugged it into.

Good luck if it gets infected :o
