I'm a little confused by what you mean when you say 'produce'? Do you mean to say render something like Avatar at an above HD resolution at above 60fps (and in 3D)? Then yeah, it will be a while before we can 'produce' that on a desktop rig.

But arguably, your desktop computer can 'produce' avatar quality images already. But of course for 'produce' in this sense, I mean it would just take hours if not days to render a single frame.

id say maybe 10, if you look at how much computer have advanced in the past 10 years its pretty spectacular then it won't be long before graphics are like avatar I only wish we would advance as fast in space as we do with computers
