How Long Battery Hold Charge ?

My battery suppose to hold charge for 3 hours when using it. How long should my battery hold its charge if I have my laptop on and i close the cover ? I been keeping my laptop plug in all night and just closing the cover. When i wake up next morning i just open my laptop up and its ready to go. So if i unplug my laptop before i go bed, is my battery going to run out of juice by time i wake up next morning ? Then i would have to plug my laptop back in and wait for it to boot up ?

Like beers said, it depends on how much the laptop pulls from the battery and what the capacity and quality of the battery is. If you gave us your laptop model and told us how old it was, we could guesstimate the answer for you. However, there is no magic equation that can tell us how your laptop works if you only tell us "My battery suppose to hold charge for 3 hours when using it."
 
Is your laptop set to sleep or hibernate with the lid closed? Sleeping uses some power from the battery while hibernate doesn't. It takes longer to power up from hibernate than resume from sleep but your battery won't come into play.
