How hot is too hot?

How hot should my CPU/GPU get without me worrying?

My CPU sits around 45C and my GPU at 54C. If they stay at these temps, will it wear/overheat them?

if you didnt try any dangerous mods on anything expensive, and your items are under warranty then i wouldnt worry about it.

but in reality, you need to give us more temperatures to help you out. i'd say you're doing damn good if its 40C ambient temperatures.

also, you need to stress test them and tell us how hot it gets under a full load. i.e. run prime95 in 4 different instances (1 per processor core)

with the temps you have given you shouldnt worry too much.. but what are the ambient temperatures (inside the computer case, outside the computer case)... you may consider adding case fans

try a thermometer those things are great at taking temperatures. what temp does your local news channel say it is outside? lol

lol ok ... make sure you open it 4 times and have 4 different prime95's running, otherwise you're only using a portion of your processor and you arent stressing it as much as possible. thats what you want.

thermometer??? what is this sorcery??
you must be from the future

anyway you can go into the bios and check the temps thats more accurate than software.

You usually hit the delete button when you boot up to go into the bios. Once there, look for something along the lines of "PC Health". The temperature readings should be in there. And as for your current temps they're perfectly fine.

Thanks diduknowthat. Another quick question, should/can I overclock? I've read about getting my processor up from 2.5 to 2.8, but it would be my first time overclocking and I don't want to screw the comp up + void my warrenty.
