How do you use a netbook to control laptop connected to TV

I have my laptop connected to my TV set so I can watch Hulu videos on a big screen.

However, I was wondering if there was a way I could use my netbook to act as a remote, so I could control everything from far away.

I have windows 7 on both machines and tried remote connect, but when I do that the laptop screen goes blank with only the login screen showing.

I was wondering if there was a way to get it so both my netbook screen and my PC screen will show the same thing.

You sure that isn't the login to the other computer? I think that's how it works...
 
setup pcanywhere, you can use remote desktop on your netbook and completely control the laptop from wherever over the internet. your laptops "desktop" screen will come up in a window on the netbook and you can totally control it. its cool stuff
