How do I transfer files thru a wireless network?

Basically, I have a main computer with direct access to the internet. It is connected to a modem/router.

Then I have another computer that has a wireless adapter, and it connects to the net thru the modem/router.

How can I transfer files between these two machines? I have read all the useless guides that lead to nothing but advertisements. Thank you.

BTW, on my Apple PowerBook, all I do is go to "connect to a server", and type in smb://192.168.1.47 which is my main computer's assigned address.

Need info on the operating system and version you are using on all machines. Do you have any "shared folders" at the moment on the main computer?

More info about the make / model of the intermediate wireless hardware would also be useful in answering your query.

I'll assume windows
You will need to set up a user account on your main machine that matchs your users on all other machine that are to access it. The password must be the same as well.
You need to set up a shared folder on your main computer- just right click on any folder got shairing, press to share this folder, and allow read and write to
a. Any user
b. A specific user (prob best)

On the accessing machine just type in the ip addy in the folder/url bar and it should show the shared folder.

I created a new account on the accessing computer with the same name and pw (none) as the one on my main computer. And then I typed in 192.168.0.1, which is what I assigned to my main computer, into the explorer address bar. However it treats the address as a search query. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
