how do i kno if i hav a NIC card?
if i hav an ethernet out on my comp does that mean i hav a NIC card?
also how do i kno if i hav an onboard ethernet???

NIC = Metwork Interface Card.

If you're using Cat5 to connect to the internet, you have a NIC...

1st method: Push the Windows key and the "pause break" key at the same time, this opens the system properties box. Click on hardware, then device manager. If you have a NIC it should be listed under Network Adapters.

2nd Method: Turn your PC around, and look for an RJ-45 connector, it is like a phone jack, but a little larger.

Q1: Ethernet out? Well I guess you could say they go both ways.. If there is a large phone cord plugged in you have a nic.

Q2: If you have an onboard ethernet card, you will plug in the large phone cord by the mouse keyboard or usb... Or if it is a card (not onboard) it will plug in below the monitor plugin... It is probably onboard..
