Or however you actually and properly spell hardware accelerator
also I am on a Windows XP on an Administrator account.

Can fiddling with Hardware accelerator cause permanent/any damage(s) to my Windows XP?

What kind of computer are we talking about here? Is there an issue with a program/game you're running? Need more details.

I want to use HyperCam 2 to do some videos such as of my Game Maker games I make but if I use my game(s) and then HyperCam 2 recording at the same time my computer will slow down.

So I need to be able to reduce hardware acceleration so that (atleast hopefully) my problems will be fixed.

Thank you for helping me out btw (by the way).

Okay let me think....do you have a video card in the computer? If you lack a video card it's probably the reason for the slowdown.

In any case....

How to change the hardware acceleration settings in Windows 98 / XP:

1. Right click on the desktop and select Properties from the pop-up window.
2. Click on the Settings Tab.
3. Click on the Advanced button.
4. Select the Troubleshoot tab in Windows XP(Performance tab in Win 98)
5. Move the slider on the center of the window to the half way point and click the OK button.
NOTE: Depending on what video card your workstation has, the windows might not look
like the windows pictured in the document, however the tab names will be the same.

Thank you so very much and I actually found out how click on Control Panel
#1: go to Display
#2: go to Settings
#3: go to Advanced
#4: go to Troubleshoot
#5: change Hardware Accelerator (or however Hardware Accelerator is shown)
by moving a pointing down arrow like figure

And you felt the need to repeat the same instructions I told you because.....?
