How can places continue to supply molex to sata adaptors that catch fire without getting sued!

Apparently they are well known to cause fires in your pc, if you have a certain type. Have I been transported to some arsehole clown universe, how is this possilble!?
I just bought one off amazon with thousands of reviews, but I'm still terrified!

I bought one that isnt crimped and is therefore risky, but its the quickest way I can detect whether this is actually the problem at all, wish me luck. pulling it out as soon as I see the drive recognized.

Using a PSU newer than 20 years old would also help and decrease your risk of a fire, probably to a higher degree.
