How can I transfer some files to my PC?

I tried installing The Witcher 2 the other day, but I encountered a problem during installation. Apparently it's a common issue, something about the DVD being dual-layered and some drives can't read it. So I can't install it from the disc, nor can I copy the contents to my HDD first, because my drive won't do either.

I tried using a different computer with my portable HDD, but even though that drive does work, the HDD is FAT32, and so won't hold the large (8GB) data files for the game.

I also considered Dropbox, but the internet connection on this other PC is so slow that it would take forever to upload files of this size.

I can probably copy the discs onto this other PC, but then how do I get those files onto mine? I don't think I can network to this PC. It's Vista and I'm Windows 7, and I don't think that process is very easy (nor are they connected by the same network anyway).

Any other ideas? If I use the SD card on my smartphone, will it hold files this large, or is there a limit also?

Thanks!

The easiest way is to get a new DVD burner that reads dual layer.
You can get them for less than $20 new.
You never how soon you will need it again.

Finally got a response from the game developers. They provided me with a way to download a digital copy, but they also said my activation code has already been used, so now it looks like I might have a new problem on my hands.

Why don't you just format your HDD as NTFS so it can handle the large files? Must be better than downloading the entire game again.

Just make sure you copy whatever is already on the HDD somewhere else first.
