how can i connect my sound card to a TV?

Presumably you have the right cable that plugs into both the tv and the soundcard? Just mess about with it. Make sure you're using the correct output from the soundcard (although you aren't gonna do any damage with it plugged in anywhere else, you just won't get a sound) and if it's plugged into the correct channel of the tv it'll work. If you've done all that it'll be the tv. Make sure it's configured correctly.

Which cable are you using? The X-Fi has a digital SPDIF output, although you will need the correct cable to go along with that. You should be able to connect it to the standard audio out port (the green port on most sound cards), and get audio.

I have never heard of doing this. Is there a cord that plugs into the green sound card port and then the white audio port on your tv?

There are adapters that convert the standard (3.5mm?) jack on the back of a sound card to left and right (red and white) RCA ports.

If I'm correct, you should have a Digital I/O / Microphone and such jack, and three jacks for different channels of audio output.
