Hi all!

I am getting really desperate. I'm not computer savvy at all. I want to transfer some files from my desktop to my lap top. Do you know how I can do that? (I don't want to use any CD/Floppy for this)

I have the desktop and laptop connected through the internet (router usb/ethernet) I know I can proceed the file transfer from some existing program on my computer, but I don't know where to start?

A few months ago I've transferred (videos/music/pictures) from my desktop to my other desktop in my house successfully, but I don't remember how. I remember it was easier though, hook up the two desktops with the (internet router Ethernet cable) And I used some program on my computer to transfer the files, and they were transferred though "My Documents" (I remember it talking about the "Host" and "guest")

I really do not remember how I go about this. I seriously forget.

Can you help me please? THANK YOU!!!

just a suggestion:,

if your using a two computers through the same hub / router , try sharing the documents that u want to transfer and then getting them on the other one through network neighberhood.

not really sure if that would work but they should be both on the same network,
any how worth a try

open up My Network Places on the main computer and there should be a link on the left side bar to "Set up a home or small office network". Click that and a Wizard should pop up. Go through the wizard and put in everything it asks you and remember the exact name of what you call the network. After its done it will ask you if you are finished or need to set it up on other computers: it will ask if you need to make a disk for it, but dont. Then go to the other computer and do the same thing for it, but have the name of that computer different(this is not the name of the network but the name of the computer that shows up when you access it). Make sure you put in the exact same network name and then follow it to the end. Then you will have to restart both computer and the network should show up in My Network Places.

Get a crossover cable (it's a special ethernet cable) and connect one end to your lappy and one end to your desktop. Setup a home netwrok between the 2 machines (assuming both are XP) and just transfer files across it.
