This may sound strange, but I want to set up my own dial up connection.
The problem is that I need to have internet access from the road. I'm a storm chaser, so it would be very helpfull to access radar, weather maps and storm reports from the field. The ideal situation would be mobile broadband, but it's way expensive and doesn't have good coverage. The next best option is dial up using my cell phone as a modem. I've thought about getting cheap dialup, but that's an extra $10 a month I'd have to pay and I don't want to do it.
So, I have a land line at my apt that I don't use. My primary number is my cell phone. So I want to link my land line to my home network so that I can dial into my home network from the road. What do I need to do this? Do I need a standalone modem gateway or is there a way to configure windows to do this for me with a standard modem?
