Home Theater help

I don't know very much about audio systems. I'm buying an entertainment center and I want to have a nice sound system to go with it. I'm looking for a quality sound system that can play around 1000-1400 watts. I will basically be using it just for watching movies and playing music. So, I want it to have surround sound and good bass. I'll be playing music mostly from iPods and laptops. So, the system needs to be able to do that. It does not necessarily have to be included, just as long as it is possible.

I searched around on the internet and I found this: http://www.overstock.com/Electronic...-DVD-Home-Theater-System/2107609/product.html

I'm concerned weather systems like these are very upgradeable. Can I just buy a different subwoofer or central speaker later to replace the old one? Also, is it possible to use this as a sound system for a TV such as this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889022050

Thank you.

Whats your budget? Basically you need a receiver, 5 small speakers and a subwoofer. If you are concerned about sound quality, go for 2 tower speakers, 3 small ones, and a large subwoofer ~ and stay away form "home theatre in a box". I suggest, "Athena" for speakers because they have good entry level ones, and "Harman Kardon" or "Denon" for receivers. I think you can find receivers with a built in iPod docks. You can also hook up your laptop via optical cable if it has one. Do a little research before you buy this stuff as they are way more expensive than PC products. Full sound systems makes a world of difference even when pitched against the best PC speakers or headphones. Good luck!
