Hi,

I have two computers: comp1 and comp2

Comp1 Can:
-View C:\ BUT not open any files or directorys in it

Comp2 Can:
-Access the internet via Comp

Comp2 Cant:
-View and files, printers etc. on comp1

Basicly I want:
-To be able to view all files on both computers from both computers
-Share Printers

Please help!

Thanks,

Tom :)

to share printers, you can get a print server, it's expensive but it's the correct way to do it. And to view all files you'll need to share all of them over the network

Mmm... I am useing a cross over cable at the moment to connect the two computers as I dont really want to invest in a router.

right click on the HD and share the entire thing. Also check allow users to change files.

Makesure both pc's are in the same workgroup...

well don't bother looking into a print server then...

do you have file and printer sharing enabled in network properties?

How are you trying to access these drives? it will be under network or by using the \\computername \\localip way.

Permissions

It sounds like you have a permissions problem. If you are running XP Home you might need to go into SafeMode and go into administrator account. Then right click C: and select properties. Go to the Security Tab and then Advanced Button. Check the permissions of the root system. You might need to check ownership as well or reset / inherit.
