Ok, so I just bought my new laptop. I have a wireless router at home so my house is like a wifi Hotspot. I am on my desktop computer but on the desk behind me is my laptop. They are both on the internet(same one). Is there a way for me to create a network drive so I can transfer my files extremely fast from one computer to the other? Any other suggestions on how to do this would be extremely helpful.

Thanks,
John

Well what wireless connection would it be? Is it "b"? It may be pretty slow. You can set up a shared HD on your desktop and have your Laptop access it whenever. But if you're transfering large files over wireless, it may take some time. Whenever I need to transfer something big or need it fast, I just hook up with a hard line... or you can just a thumbdrive.

Can you explain how I can set up a harddrive on my desktop that my laptop can access? I'm trying to transfer two music albums from my desktop to the laptop. So I'm thinking that the hard line method could work? I have an ethernet cable but have no idea what to do? Can you explain this or point me to a guide?

Thanks.

iF your network is set up and you can see your desktop on your laptop under my network places then you should be good to go. Go to my computer on your desktop and right click on c drive go to sharing. in the second box it will say share this folder, check it that will allow you to see it on your laptop.
