Hi,
Computer amateur here looking for some basic instruction. I have a Linksys wireless G broadband router and I have a laptop that I use to access the internet through the router. I also have a desktop that is currently wired to the cable modem (not the router) for internet access as well. What I would like to do is network the desktop and laptop so that I can access files on both computers and use the printer from both computers. My questions is how do I do that (ie. what cables do I need, where do I attach them and do I need to do anything with XP to network the computer)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
dnaldi

its pretty simple...

Coax (your internet connection) from cable into cable modem
Cat5 from cable modem into wan port of router
cat5 from any port on the switch from the router to the desktop

Set up your wireless setting in your router control panel, then mirror those settings in the wireless network set up in windows. Enable file and print sharing and you should be good to go.
