i was wondering if you could hook up a home sound sys to a computer. i dont have any experience with sound cards. do they have proper connections or do i need a converter?

there is quite a bit to consider. if ur stereo has head phone jacks or if u have the left are right audio ports in ur computer and ur stereo does 2 then maybe.

There is no need for a headphone jack on the sound system for this to work.

Im guessing that you have RCA Audio inputs on the back of your reciever correct? If so, then you just need to buy a part at radioshack for a few bucks that converts a standard computer audio plug to RCA plugs, then find some cables, connect it to the RCA conenctor on the computer, and connect it to the Audio In on the back of your reciever.

I have a massive home sound system hooked up to my computer. The went to radioshack and bought an RCA to headphone jack cable for a few dollars. It sounds great!

Yea what geoff5093 said. This would be the best possible way I can think of. I had used this method a couple years back with my home stereo system and it worked very well.

as long as you have the three splitters in the back of your sound card, the red, black, and green you should be able to get the surround sound in true
