High Quality Webcam

I am looking at putting a video camera on my boat to record some fishing action.I currently have a fanless mini computer that is 1.6ghz core 2 duo on the boat and was looking at maybe a webcam type camera to plug into the computer to capture video. Is anyone aware of a system that I could use to record good quality video through the mini computer?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Price? And any reason it needs to be a webcam or record through the computer? There are some nice HD camcorders out there for under $200, and pretty fair ones under $100.

I have a pair of Aiptek ActionHD GVS's that are very nice for the price. Amazon has two models for $180. The only difference is stereo on the black model. If my memory serves me correctly, you can record 2 hours of 1080p or 4 hours of 720p on an 8GB card.

The_Other_One is exactly correct...I would recommend against a webcam .

A really good webcam will cost you about $100 or more. You will be restricted to the length of the cable, computer requirements and low quality compared to a camera.

There are many "Point and Shoot" digital cameras that record "HD" movies these days. I think you'll be much better off with one of these. This is the camera I bought my wife for her birthday...small but very good quality. I can record in HD and throw it on a DVD. It looks awesome on my 42" Sony Bravia TV. Looks just like a DVD you would buy. Amazing video for a small point and shoot camera. Here is a new one for $225...I bet you could find a used one on ebay for half that price.

That will give you more options...you are not tied to a cable, you don't need a computer running on your boat, you can use it anywhere really.

Just buy an old tripod and a few pressure clamps to mount it to the boat of the area you will be using to pull them in:D

Post back and let us know what you decide and what the plan is. Also...if you post any videos of fishing...you MUST post a link if they are on Youtube or something. I grew up fishing but have lived in Germany for 10 yeras now...have not fished in that long!:(
