Hi-Fi for the masses

Is there an inexpensive speaker setup (in the neighborhood of $50) for listening to stereo sound (e.g. rock and roll) that an audiophile wouldn't roll over laughing about?

Will an upgraded audio card improve my listening pleasure?

Most computer speakers will have audiophiles rolling over laughing, if you are actually interested in Hi-Fi you'll want an amp and speakers like what I've got.

Yeah, I would go with the Pioneer VSX-516K/S paired with Insignia NS-B2111s. Great combo!

I don't like crummy sound. I couldn't bring myself to buy a $50 set of speakers, so I went ahead and spent $300 on a pair of KRK Rokit 6 G2s and an E-MU 1212M audio card.

Hopefully this setup turns out better than my Edirol MA-15Ds. It'll certainly be better than anything Logitech puts out.
