Hey, My name's alex and I am both a mac and a pc :D

Just a quick bit about me: i play guitar and write music. I would post a video of my playing but it doesn't matter right now. I am also into taking things apart, such as my blackberry, or my friends old car, etc. I have a pet snake, which I named Cat.
As for my computers, I have a Macbook pro which is about 5 years old and has no battery life, an iMac, which is a bit older but it is in really good condition. I also have an HP Elitebook 2730p, provided by my school, which is alright but I really f***ed it up over the course of a year. I am a sophmore in high school.

Okay, on to my questions -

First off, every summer my school takes the laptops back to get them re-imaged, load them with new software, etc. I am a transfer student to this school, so my computer is new, but most people in my grade have no battery life because the school takes the laptops and leaves them plugged in for days on end, which kills the batteries. So, to get around that, I wanted to buy a second battery from someone on the internet for as cheap as i can. The battery literally does not have to work, it just needs to be able to hold a charge for maybe 10 minutes. However, eBay doesn't have what I am looking for, and i dont know where else i should look. Is there a website to look for cheap parts?

Secondly, I wanted to know if there was a way to align my desktop icons to the right of the screen instead of to the left; like a mac. I know i can drag and drop them over there, but when i save a picture or something, they still appear on the right, and not only that, but once you drag them to the left, they aren't completely aligned. Is there a way to make it so that they align to the right all the time? I dont care if it's via a software or hacking my system, I just want to know my options

Lastly, I was wondering if anyone knew of some actually GOOD Photoshop-type programs that are free. I've tried Gimp, and Photoscape as well. what else is there?

Thanks for any help, guys! Hope to see you around in the forum

For the free photoshop you could use Paint.NET, its pretty decent, I use it quite alot.

PS. I personaly think that if if having a good battery means much to you then pay good money for a good one, dont be a tight-arse and scrouge a cheap crappy one. You should think yuorself lucky that you have a laptop of which your school provides you with, espesally if you all rerady have a Macbook pro AND an iMac

So your saying you want to SCAM the taxpayers (us) for a battery?

...no

i'm saying that i dont want my IT department to screw up my good battery so i want to buy an already bad one, so that i don't have to spend more money to get my good one replaced.

I shall try that website, i've never heard of it

Are you missing my point about the battery? i'm saying that I dont want my already good battery to get messed up. thats a complete waste. i dont have the money to spend 150 bucks to get it replaced. So i want to buy a bad one for 10 or 20 and keep my good one in good condition.

As to aligning your icons, right click on desktop > view > align to grid (in windows anyway)

How did you screw up your laptop? virsuse sor stuff? may i suggest these free programs for your HP:

Malwarebytes
CCleaner
Auslogics Disk Defrag
Auslogics Registry Cleaner
