Today I bought a Linksys WRT54GS and I need help with sharing my L drive on my PC as I'd like to access the files on my laptop, I don't have a clue :(
Help! Thanks

assuming you are running windows xp....

Right click on the folder you wish to share and share it via sharing tab. If you want all sub directories or a whole drive shared, then apply it to the drive or make sure you check the box for sharing sub directories.

through your network places, also they both have to be on the same subnet and in the same workgroup

I just get "Entire Network">"MSHOME" No L drive or anything.. how do I change the subnet then?

Just run the networking set up wizard and fill in the blanks with the same information, if all your computers are all hooked up to the same router then they will all be on the same subnet, since the router will act as your DHCP server.

Then right click your folders you wish to share and then share them

okay so your workgroup is MSHOME, so all computers have to have the same workgroup. Then once that is settled make sure you right click on any folder or drive and go to properties, then go to the sharing tab and then share it.

If that does not work, then you may have some sort of OS issue at hand.

Well I've done that and I can't access it. The drive on the PC is L:
so on the laptop I'm typing //PC NAME/L:/ and nothing happens..

Grrr :(

well in a windows enviroment the slashes would be the other way

\\computername\share name

just go start > run > \\computername

what happens?

I tried that and nothing happens, still says that \\PC NAME\LIAM\ can't be found (actuall pc name masked)
