Hi everybody.
I really really need some help concerning my usb. My pc is unable to find drivers for any usb hardware i connect. Not even a simple usb-stick. When i connect anything to the usb theres a popup with an auto installation of drivers, but it can never find any drivers no matter what i connect.

PLEASE HELP!

What's your OS? Windows oughtta be able to autoinstall a flash drive - what's the make and model of the drive?

i use windows vista. i tried like 4 different flash drives and they work fine on my secund pc... My pc is just 1 year old

I found this from http://social.technet.microsoft.com.../thread/b6c15e75-957a-401f-aecf-80ddf48c5dbe/
Steps to resolve USB Storage Device problem with Vista

1. In the run command (Start menu bar) type "regedit" to bring up the Registry Editor.

2. In Registry Editor, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

3. In the details pane, double-click DevicePath.

4. Add a semi-colon to end of the existing text, and then add the path to %SystemRoot%\System32. The result should be similar to:

%SystemRoot%\inf;%SystemRoot%\System32

Do not remove the %SystemRoot%\inf file path from the DevicePath registry entry.

5. Click OK to save the new value, and then close Registry Editor.

6. Delete “INFCACH.1” FROM C:\Windows and C:\Windows\Inf Directories (if it exists)

7. Ensure that there is a copy of the usbstor.inf file in C:\Windows\Inf
If there isn’t – follow the below steps:

a) From another Vista system (copy it out of another Vista system and copy it directly into the C:\Windows\inf directory

OR

b) From the problem machine, run Command Prompt ( as administrator). From C:\ do a dir usbstor.inf /s . Wherever the file is found, go to that directory and copy all the files located in that directory to C:\Windows\inf directory

8. Open device manager, uninstall all unknown devices (right click, uninstall) so they all disappear from the list

9. Reboot the computer

10. Plug the device in (the drivers will now install and the device will be usable!)

May be worth a try? Seems to have worked for others having similar problems..?

in your system device manager are you seeing any exclamation's at your usb connectors on your motherboard? what about the usb's front and back of computer. any drivers available and installed on motherboard?

Theres is only an exclamination on the device i'm trying to install, as soon as i unplug the device it dissappears from the device manager. And if i right click en the exclamination to update the driver it gives me the same messageas that it is unable to find any drivers

Tell me something...how did you install Windows Vista?
Did you install it over the old installation?
Did you format the old existing partition and then installed Vista on THAT partition?
Did you delete ALL partitions, created the new one and THEN installed Vista on THAT newly created partition?
Did you first completely format your entire HDD using special tools for that such as Kill Disk version 4.1,then created the new partition and THEN installed Vista on THAT newly created partition?

The reason why I ask you this is because the previous old BOOT SECTOR can screw everything up.I had the problem with my sound once and figured out that all I needed to do is to completely delete the old boot sector and Windows disk could NOT do that.It only created the new one over the old one so the old boot sector is never deleted lol.

Nope vista was installed when i bought the pc... Do you think the best is to return the pc to the store and have their technicians look at it?

if your selling ya gotta get it working somehow. if ya have a recovery disc then get it going. i would not do a quick format and a clean install wipe.

taking it in and under warranty might be a way to go. if no charge. if they charge you and your selling it then i doubt if you will like it. they will be in your pocket.

Else follow up some more and see what happens.

Ouch Vista was already installed?I remember once when I bought one small laptop and it already had Windows on it and guess what?MOUSE wasn't working in SAFE MODE and everything else worked like crap lol.SO NO.DO NOT RETURN IT TO THE STORE LOL.They will rip you off and all they will do is to reinstall Windows.Rather you do it yourself.
