Help with password

My son passed recently and he left a nice HP laptop that I would like to use, but I can't change anything on it due to not knowing what his password was.

Oh, I can log on to the internet as a guest user and stuff like that, but if I try to download anything that requires the administrators password, I am out of luck.

So, thinking that you guys have got to know more about this stuff than I do, I am asking if there is software available to retrieve his password, or possibly if I could get a system restore disc and just bring everything back to where it was when new......please? :)

For me also same problem that my sister passed last week she left her laptop,But i cant use because that she put security lock. I cant enter into boot screen also then how can i remove that lock.

That's a BIOS/HDD password. There is no way to forcibly remove those passwords.

I thought we weren't to help break passwords

I'm with you on this one, but while we are at it, 25 family members passed and they have all left their laptops to me, all have varying OS's. Each OS has a different password.

Help please :)

Or was it just one family member that passed (any computer shop) and helped themselves to 25 laptops and they passed them onto me....

I think you can see what I am trying to say. :)
