help with multiple mic/line out setup!

howdy!

i've got a situation that i'm not sure how to fix:

i just bought a creative audigy se soundcard to replace my onboard sound card (i think it was an AC '97, can't remember now). i have a piece of guitar equipment that requires using the mic/line out plug, which is fine...but the audigy se doesn't have a mic AND a line out, they share the same plug.

my onboard card has 2 sets of audio plugs, (line out, mic, line in on both the front and back).

i want to connect a pc mic into this setup, but i can't seem to get it to work, and again, the audigy se just has the shared mic/line out plug. can i run the audigy se for the guitar gear, and the onboard for the pc mic? if so, how do i set this up?

any advice is appreciated!!!

welcome to computer forum!

so it needs the mic input and a line output. and i dont think the line out would be the same as the mic. or do you mean he line input?

hey! thanks for the quick response!

well, i put the card in yesterday, and got the guitar equipment to work out of the mic/line out input (i doublechecked, the card only has one shared spot for it, it's the strangest thing!). so i have that working, but i want to add a labtec computer mic for other purposes. in order to have the guitar sound come through, i have to have it in the shared spot. i just figured i could use one of the 2 other onboard pink mic plugs to plug in a mic so i don't have to always unplug the guitar in order to use the mic, as i would like to have them both work without unplugging anything.

is there a way to set up the mic to use the onboard soundcard, and continue to use the audigy se for all my other sound needs?

apparently radioshack makes a 3.5" switchbox...i could probably do that, seing as i'll probably never need to run the computer mic and the guitar at the same time...if there's any way to get them both working without it though, i'd like to hear it!
