Help with first build

My laptop just died on me, and instead of buying another one by brother has talked me in to building one. First let me say I am strapped for cash at the moment (in school) and only have about 500 to spend. my general idea is to go cheap on the CPU and GPU with the intent of upgrading in the future. so i am not sure if i should go with Intel or AMD. i know i can't get 7i mobo because there are no cheap CPUs out for it now. what i was looking at but would like a second or third opinion on is this:

ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
decent mobo with room to grow

Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache
dirt cheap and can easily be OCed to 3GHz I know it only has 2MB L2 but i only need it for basic comp duties till i can afford a new CPU

HIS Hightech H467QT512P Radeon HD 4670 IceQ Turbo 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
Cheap gets what i need done

CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory Model VS2GBKIT667D2
cheap

so any thoughts
this sound good, go with AMD for future upgrade abillity?, any thoughts on Power supply?

thanks

The Phenom II's are pretty good chips and you can get a 3 or 4 core for fairly cheap. On top of that AM3 motherboards are very reasonable. Pair it with maybe a 4850 or 4870 and 2-4gb of ram and you have a great value computer.

Phenom II X2(sometimes you can unlock all 4 cores)-$119

Gigabyte AM3 Motherboard-$130 plus rebate

2GB Crucial RAM-$32

HIS Radeon HD 4870-$140 plus rebate

Total - $421

Leaves you room for a case, psu, more ram, or just saves you money.
